Mr Mo Munshi


Mr Munshi, a founding director of Gobi Coal and Energy Ltd, is a geologist with an extensive mining engineering background and has over 20 years experience in exploration, development, production, and both technical and corporate management in the gold mining industry.

Mr Munshi has worked in the Australasian and African regions, primarily in Australia, China, Mongolia, Philippines, Indonesia, Ghana, Tanzania, and South Africa.  More recently, Mr Munshi has had exposure to South America, Ecuador, Peru, Brazil, Argentina, Kosovo, and Turkey.

Mr Munshi has broad exposure to large multi-national and junior mining companies, having worked previously for ACM Limited, Posgold/Normandy Mining, Great Central Mines NL, Ashanti Goldfields Limited, JCI Limited, and Ivanhoe Mines Limited.  At these companies, Mr Munshi was involved in project evaluation, financing, legal, and administrative functions.

Specific experience includes:

  • Business Development Manager at Ashanti, responsible for project evaluation, acquisition, development, and project financing. In particular, he was responsible for all geological aspects for both the Bibiani Project in Ghana and the Siguiri Project in Guinea, and was part of a team which took both of these projects to bankable feasibility stage. He was also involved in the pre-feasibility study for Ashanti's Geita Project in Tanzania.
  • Looking at several corporate possibilities of mergers and acquisitions for both Australian and Canadian companies.
  • Extensive experience with both Chinese and Japanese mining companies and trading houses.
  • Raising several hundred million dollars of capital for the various companies that he has worked for to develop and ultimately bring into production the projects which he has been involved with, eg. Bronzewing, Bibiani, Siguiri, and, more recently, Oyu Tolgoi.
  • Extensive work in coal projects in Asia, particularly in China and Mongolia, and the development of the related infrastructure.


Mr Joseph Borkowski


Mr. Borkowski is Chairman and CEO of Rasia Group, a Dubai-based principal investment company focused on natural resources and strategic infrastructure in the CIS, Balkans, China, and the Middle East. Rasia specializes in both direct investments and consortium investments for projects of national importance in which Rasia takes the lead investment risk. Rasia currently has gold-silver mining, railway, and high speed road portfolio companies. Rasia also manages a private equity fund focused on the European, CIS and Balkans regions. Rasia has been actively engaged in joint investment opportunities with, and as an advisor to, a Middle East based sovereign wealth fund since 2009.


Mr Daniel Poller


Mr. Poller is the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of ASX-listed Paramount Mining Corporation Limited. He is a resource financing executive with more than 15 years experience in the Mining and Energy sectors working throughout Asia, Africa and Australia. Previously, Mr. Poller was a Senior Advisor to JP Morgan's Natural Resource Group in Asia where he co-headed Metals, Mining and Power Investment Banking. Mr Poller also previously worked for Northstar Pacific Private Equity Fund in Indonesia, where he oversaw mining investments, and for BHP Billiton and McKinsey and Co.


Mr Markhaaj Choidorj


Mr. Markhaaj Choidorj is currently the Director General of Gobi Coal and Energy LLC. Prior to this, Mr. Choidorj dedicated nearly two decades serving the Mongolian Government, working as the Director General of the Foreign Relations Department, Parliament of Mongolia, advisor to the Speaker of the Parliament as well as a member of the Policy Council under the Prime Minister of Mongolia. From 2008 to 2011, he was assigned as the Head of the Mission and Head of the Trade and Economic Representative Office in Taiwan.


Mr Hugh Babbage

Coal Marketing

Mr Babbage is a mining engineer with more than 30 years experience of working in the Australian and international mining industry, with a major involvement in international coal and minerals markets. The first 10 years of his career was focused on Australian coal mining operations, engineering and feasibility work, employed by Thiess, CSR and Shell in Queensland and New South Wales. Mr Babbage moved into international coal marketing whilst at Shell and later joined MIM where he was instrumental in developing coking and thermal coal markets to allow the tripling of MIM's Queensland coal business during the 1990's.

In recent years Mr Babbage has provided advisory and consulting services to a number of Australian and international clients on a medium to long term basis, involving both technical and commercial aspects of a substantial range of coal, iron ore, manganese and industrial minerals projects, both operating and potential, both in Australia and internationally.

Mr Babbage is a Member of the Australasian Institute of Mining & Metallurgy (AusIMM) and the UK-based Institute of Materials, Minerals & Mining (IMMM), and is registered in the UK as a Chartered Engineer (CEng).
